Cambridge University Riviera Racing is a team of innovative students driven together by a common aim – a more sustainable maritime future. To prove the viability of hydrogen as a fuel source for this industry, we are currently building our first zero-emissions boat to compete at the 2024 Monaco Energy Boat Challenge.
Our hydrogen fuel-cell catamaran racing boat, expected to reach speeds above 20 knots and use less power than a kettle, is intended to be a showcase of the cutting edge of hydrogen fuel technology.
Using a bespoke propulsion system and combining the efforts and expertise of some of the brightest minds in Cambridge and the maritime industry, we hope to serve as a showcase of the talent and innovation on offer when we aim high.
Working in collaboration with industry partners and leading academics to envision the cutting-edge solutions required for us to create the fastest boat in its class.
Our team uses novel and established production methods to bring our design to fruition.
Following extensive testing and months of hard work, we will compete at the 2024 Monaco Energy Boat Challenge with the aim to win!
